The 2024 Rondeli Security Conference is organized by the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (Rondeli Foundation) with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung South Caucasus Office (FES).
The 2024 Rondeli Security Conference – Security and Democracy amid Geopolitical Rivalry in the 21st Century will take place on March 6-7, 2024 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
The Conference will focus on major challenges to international and regional security through the prism of global competition between democracies and autocracies, assessing the threats to the rules-based international order that emanate from revisionist states and non-state actors, and the ways the West can better support freedom and democracy around the world, especially in regions that are at the center of geopolitical rivalry and under the risk of authoritarian encroachments. Georgia is a case in point, as it was granted the EU candidate status and is headed towards pivotal parliamentary elections in 2024 which will largely determine the further developmental trajectory of the country. The Rondeli Security Conference will seek to put Georgia back on the international agenda, examining the security-democracy nexus and the global geopolitical rivalry in the Georgian context as well.
With more than 250 participants, the Conference will bring together speakers from the United States, the EU, the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and the Middle East. Representatives of think tanks, academia, government, and media will discuss a broad range of issues that the world has to face today amid global tensions between great powers, the Russia-Ukraine war – the deadliest war in Europe since World War II, armed conflicts in other regions of the world, and the sustained attempts by different international actors to undermine democracy and global stability.
Serving as a regional center of gravity for think tanks, academia and media, the Conference creates an enabling environment for accessing first-hand knowledge directly from veritable sources.
