Ashley Velie
Ashley Velie is a Peabody Award winning producer for 60 Minutes who has worked for the American network CBS since 1998. She spent ten years overseas with CBS News based in both the network’s London and Tel Aviv bureaus covering stories throughout Europe, the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Israel/Lebanon as well as Israel’s disengagement from Gaza, the rise of Hamas, and the 2006 Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. In 2008 Velie re-based to CBS headquarters in New York where she’s both produced for the CBS Evening News and 60 Minutes. She’s covered an array of issues including the opioid epidemic, veterans and PTSD, mass shootings, the demise of Roe v. Wade, and children’s mental health as well as news making interviews with Syrian President Assad, Iranian President Ahmadinejad, Jordan’s King Abdullah, and President Obama. Velie has been producing for the CBS news magazine program 60 Minutes fulltime since 2017 working with correspondents Scott Pelley and Sharyn Alfonsi. Her most recent story for 60 Minutes focused on the war in Gaza, which aired last month.
