Hrant Mikaelian

Hrant Mikaelian is a Senior Research Fellow at the Caucasus Institute in Yerevan. He has been with the institute since 2009, focusing primarily on regional political dynamics, institutions, economics, and socio-demographic trends. In addition, since late 2017, he has maintained a blog on the “Caucasian Knot” titled “Political Geography of the South Caucasus.” Hrant Mikaelian began his career in 2007, working as a specialist and later as a senior specialist in the Research and Statistics Department at KazTransGaz Tbilisi.

Mr. Mikaelian earned his B.A. in Computer Networks and Systems from the Georgian Technical University (2003-2007). In late 2008, he began developing his expertise in the social sciences, obtaining an M.A. in Political Science from the Caucasus Institute (2008-10) and an M.A. in European Studies from Yerevan State University (2012-14). Hrant Mikaelian is an alumnus of the Council of Europe Yerevan School of Political Studies (2015-16). He has authored three books and nearly 50 policy papers and academic articles.
